~ 12-15-11 ~

We have been very busy and with Christmas coming we have sold all of our available bunnies. I know I've been slack but here is what we got at the Columbia show:

Siamese Sable HL buck
Tort HL doe
Broken Tort HL doe
Broken Blue Tort HL doe

I finally got around to putting pics up. I also had another litter. Mask had 3 babies on the 4th and so far so good! There are two siamese sables and a himi.

Anyways other than that there isn't much else. If I don't get another post up before Christmas, I want to wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas!!!!!!

~ Columbia show ~

The columbia show was today and we did very well. Jacob got BOB in show A and then went up for the Best in show and got best Reserve. In show B, Irene and Jacob both got BOB. The rest got very good comments as well.

We came home with four bunnies. I'll try and take pics soon. I'll write about them soon.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was taking photos yesterday and the photo of Mya wasn't a good one and so I took a new one. Here is that pic.

She is such a nice doe! She can't be shown since she is a marten but I will keep her to breed to Jacob and try to get Sable Martens to show. She is very sweet too.

I added some bunnies to the for sale page that will be ready to go for Christmas. Let me know if your interested.

~ 12-2-11 ~

The Columbia show is Tommorow. I can't wait to see how our bunnies do. We are taking:

Jacob
Irene
Mason
Butterball
Clara

This will be Irene's last show. Since she has two we are going to try to get one more leg maybe two. It is a triple but we are only staying for A & B.

Jacob did so well this time we are trying again. I think we will try him for a long time and see how many legs we can get on him.

Mason is a very nice buck that I want to Thank Sherri Green for. I can't wait to see how he does.

Butterball is a very nice buck that I can't wait to see how he matures but I am trying to see how he will do as a JR.

This may be Clara's last show but I may hold her out for Spartanburg. I haven't decided yet. She is a very nice doe and I think she got a leg last time but I don't know.

We are also bringing home 3 new bunnies. Can you guess what breed and color? I'll try to take pictures and post them soon after the show.

Conyer's show

Well the Conyer's show was today and we did pretty well. I think combined we got 6 legs but I won't know for sure until I get the results. I know Irene got BOS twice and I'm pretty sure Jacob won a leg in each show so that would be three legs. I think Clara got one as well. Butterball did very well and got BOG and Best brokens but their weren't enough bunnies to get a leg. Hershey also did fairly well and I'm not really sure what he got. I think it was a good show and everybody had fun but it lasted all day!!

We came home with a few new additions:

Green's Lilic - Pointed White HL doe: We are very excited about this little doe. She is a brood doe but we are very excited.

Green's Mason - Sable Point HL buck: Mason is very sweet and we can't wait to show him.

Green's Tonka - Black Otter buck: Tonka is a False Dwarf I think but he has pretty nice type so I will breed him to my smaller does and see what I can get out of him.

11-17-11

Well nothing new on litters. Cocoanut missed this time and I think we may retire her to a pet home. Musical was due yesterday and so if she doesn't today I will rebreed her. After much studing and evaluating, Starburst has a Cinnamon doe and a Cinnamon buck. I think I may keep them both because their type is so nice but I'll have to see.

The Conyer's Triple show is this weekend and we are taking:

Butterball
Clara
Hershey
J3
Jacob
Irene

All are juniors except for Jacob. I am excited to see how they do. Butterball is just turning out so nice!! I can't wait to see how he does. Clara is very nice also and I can't wait to see how she does now that she's a little more matured. J3 is also very nice and she will be six months old next week so I will breed her after this show. Hershey was one I threw in the mix at last minute b/c I was evaluating him. Jacob won a leg when he was kind of molty so now we will see how he does. Irene our HL doe is extremly nice and I can't wait to see how she does.

It rained here a couple of days and now alot of the leaves have fallen off. The weather is beautiful and I'm sure the bunnies are also loving it. TNT

11-9-11

Ok I think I have it figured out. Fireball is the dad (I thought it was jacob b/c I thought they were torts, a mess up on my part) and we have smutty fawns. So I guess we will see if their bucks or does.

Broken Lace had a litter. She had four but one was a DOA I think but it was probably a peanut as well. She has two broken blacks (one heavy pattern one spot) and something else. I think maybe tort or choc. I guess only time will tell. CE3 also had one chocolate otter but sadly, it was dead. :( I'll give her a little time to make sure she is done. Cocoanut our HL is also due and she pulled fur so if she kindles I'll update everyone.

Help!

Okay, remember I said Starburst had torts? I don't think so now. I have no idea what they are. I was evaluating them yesterday because they were 3 weeks old. I have posted these pictures and will welcome any advice! They have blue/gray eyes and I almost wonder if they are smutty fawns? They have lap spots on their belly. Please leave me a comment or email me at senadastarr@yahoo.com with any help.

Please let me know. TIA!

11-5-11

The bunnies are all doing well. I have several litters due in the next few days/week. If I get any, I'll update. I added Red Oak to the for sale page. I wouldn't sell him but he has been known to bite. He has wonderful color! I love it! He has very nice type as well. I am asking $75 for him. Contact me if you interested. Anyways just a short update from Son Rose Rabbitry.

11-3-11

Can you believe it is already November? The days go by fast! I lost Dancer's whole litter. :( I'm not really sure what happened. Well I'll just try again.

Starburst babies are doing great. I think I mentioned that the sire is my Siamese Sable buck, Jacob. Most of you are probably thinking "Why would you breed a Orange to a Sable??" but let me tell you the story.......

Starburst, my broken orange nd doe became broody at about 4/5 months so I decided "why not try to breed her? She's young, and does normally miss the first time." Then the question came. "Who do I breed her to???" At the time, I had no chocoalates, oranges, ect. Her type is OK and my sable buck has really nice type so I thought "why not?" So the 31 days went by and a week before I put hay and a box in. Not expecting much. I went out to feed and water on her due date who is ripping out fur?!? I was shocked! It turned out to be chestnuts. I pictured them below: (These are random photos, I didn't get them at the same age.)

Chestnut Doe

Aren't we cute?

Broken Chestnut buck

So after that I bred her to my broken orange buck "Fireball" and she missed. Then I got to thinking "That was fun getting chestnuts, I'm going to try that again" and got TORTS!! What a suprise. I took this picture today:

Aren't they adorable?!? They are so sweet!!! Starburst won't be going anywhere any time soon! :) She is a great mom! Thank you Andrea at Peachtree Rabbitree for this sweet doe!

I updated the website and took Broken Splash off. She is turning out way nicer than I thought so I bred her to Hershey. I might sell her in the future but for right now I want to see what I can get. Cocoanut our HL doe is due tomorrow and if she kindles I will write a new post.

~ Until next time ~

10-24-11

Dancer had another litter yesterday. She had three kits last time but this time? Five healthy kits. I know for some people thats not alot but for me its exciting. :) She had two dark kits that I can't tell if they are seals or sables. One is a marten but one is a solid. The other three I think are Smokes. Some are martens some aren't. Once I comfirm colors I'll update.

I know this is short but just wanted to update everyone. I updated the for sale page as well as the Nestbox page. I also changed the template to fall! ;) I also bred a few new bunnies this week. Anyways.

A new litter

Well we had another litter here at Son Rose Rabbitry this week. Monday, Starburst gave birth to two torts. The Sire was Jacob. I can't wait to see how they mature.

Vixen was due and I went out this morning and she had pulled fur but I didn't find any babies. Later I found on dead baby. I don't know but maybe a stillborn? Dancer is also due.

I updated the site completly today. I do have Broken Splash available still. I have been back and forth on whether to keep her or not. She is very sweet and will be a good brood doe but not showable because 1) Her back is not all that smooth and 2) She is heavy pattern. She carries chocolate and I thought about keeping her but really need the cage space right now. When she was little, she was really nice. She is at lanky stage so I don't know how she'll turn outI'm asking $10 for her. Let me know if your interested!

The weather is getting colder! It was about 60-65 today and at night it is getting in the forty's!!

10/13/11

Whew! We've been so busy! I have been culling some bunnies. I was at a friends house and saw a BEW doe for sale and just had to get her. I don't have a buck but I don't see buying one so I'll just use Hershey and get my own line going. I'm going to show her next month at Conyers show. She is pictured on my does page under "Raddison's Clara".

In other new, Dancer and Vixen's (Vixen is raising Mask's baby) babies are doing well. I have a few does due over the next week or so and I'm hoping their bred.

The fairview show was the 1st and was a pretty good show. We came home with a black silver marten ND pair. And two new HL does, a Sable Point and a Tort. We are excited about our new aditions can't wait to start breeding them.

We have been going over each bunny and deciding what we need to cull. We decided to sell our HL jr buck. He will be a great pet for someone who wants a sweet bunny. We also have a broken black doe and a Siamese Sable jr doe (ND) available.

Thanks for reading,

9/27/11

I never know what to put for my title. :) I was taking photos of Dancer and Mask's litter and wanted to share.

This is Dancer's doe. I think she is a himmie marten but I'm not sure yet. She is really sweet. When I took this picture, she kept checking everything out. :)

This is Mask's baby. I love this little doe. She gets a lot of attention :). She wouldn't hold its eyes open lol. It turned out to be a Smutty himi.

The Fairview show is this weekend and I'm really exited. TNT

Busy

Where to start?!? It's been so long since I've wrote a post. Now to the litters!

I will start by saying that sadly Emma's litter did not make it. They were pretty small so. Maybe extended peanuts? I don't really know.

Jacob x Dancer ~ 1 kit: Dancer did have three but sadly two didn't make it. They were smaller than their litter mate. She is doing great with one though!

Jacob x Mask ~ 1 kit: Mask had three but this time I think was a little stressed and was as great of a mom. These were also small. It ended up she has a smutty himmie.

Vixen had a kit but it also died a few days ago.... She is raising Mask's though. I was just glad she had a live kit because when I bought her, she had only had stillborns.

It's been in the 70's this week and I can feel the hope of fall!! It is suppose to warm up to 80's this week but still better than 90's. :) Hope all my bunny friends have a good week!!! Until next time, God Bless!!

~ Litters ~

Emma had another litter a couple days ago.

Jacob x Emma ~ 2 kits: Emma actually had 4 kits but 1 was a DOA and one was a peanut. I am so confused about this litter. At first I thought she had a two himi's, then one started getting a light color to it so I thought it was a smoke pearl. Then yesterday what I thought was a himi also started getting color so I have know idea what I have. I guess time will tell....

Starburst missed this time so I rebred her yesterday as well as the HL does. Mask, and Annabell are due this week.

Broken Splash is still on the For Sale page but I also added a HL jr buck. Since we have two we decided we didn't need him. Email me if your interested.

It is suppose to cool down a little bit this week and be 90 instead of 100. It will be a welcome break for me and the bunnies.

Saturday, August 6, 2011

Where to start? First I'll start off by saying it is very hot here! A few days ago it reached 100! I'll be glad when August is gone!

Now I'll talk about litter's:(The ones below are a couple weeks old)

Himi x Peanut Butter ~ 1 kit - Peanut Butter has one black buck. He has pretty nice type so I think I will keep him. He does not have scattered white hairs, so I'll try to show him and see what he does.

Himi x Broken Lace (BL)~ 2 kits - I never know what to expect from BL. This litter she has a broken black buck and a black doe. I am going to keep the buck for a while and see what he produces. He has pretty nice type as well so I'll try to show him too. I was going to sell the doe but decided to keep her and see what I get out of her and Hershey. Bl's last litter she had 4 kits and had a weird mix. She had a chocolate, (that sadly was a fader) a Broken Black, 2 Broken Torts. One of the torts and the broken black had blanketed pattern. Something I haven't had before. The other broken was a false charlie. I rebred BL to Jacob a few days ago.

I also got four new bunnies a couple weeks ago:

Broken Orange buck - RD's Fireball: Fireball originally came from Washington State. He will be a good thing to cross on Starburst. He has pretty nice type but has to much color to show.

Smoke Pearl Marten doe - Holden's Dancer: Dancer is a BUD but I am hoping to get some nice stuff out of her and Jacob. Her type is pretty good and she had 5 kits in her last litter at Peachtree Rabbitree.

Siamese Smoke Pearl doe - Holden's Vixen: Vixen almost won a leg at the show last year. I am hoping that she will produce some show stock for me. She is a littermate to Dancer.

Chocolate Buck - Seven Dwarf's Sir Hershey "Hershey": I am really excited about this little buck. He will be perfect for my Otter program. I can't wait till he's old enough to breed.

I added Broken Splash to the For Sale page. I don't really want to sell this little doe but I think it will be best. She is a beautiful bunny and will do good for a brood doe. She is out of BL so her sis was a Choc. Email me for more info if your interested.
