Its Fall, Y'all!!! ;)

Wow, its been 4 months since I've wrote a post and today is the first day of Fall! :) All the rabbits are doing well and we have been to 2 more shows since I last updated and we have another one next Saturday, the 29th.

We went to the Ladson, SC Triple Open/Triple Youth show on August 4th and had some nice placements. Show A we won BOB in the Netherland Dwarf's with AC and BOB in the Holland Lops with Darla. In the meantime we bought a Broken Tort Jr buck from Gary and Susan Smith. Show B he won BOB. In Show C AC won BOG and Rewy won BOS.

   Smith's Sugar Bear

We went to Greensboro on the 15th and had a lot of fun. Show A Sugar Bear won BOSV. Show B he won BOS and Show C he won BOV. Show C Mr. Collins (Jr Black Otter ND) Won BOSV. We also picked up a few additions to the Holland Herd. They are posted on the "Holland Lops page" of our site.

I am really excited about some of our Jr's :). Here is Son Rose Mr. Collins. A Black Otter Jr Buck who also carries Chocolate and will help in our Chocolate program. He is only 3 1/2 months old so his head still has some developing to do.

Speaking of Chocolates... "Twix" our Chocolate Otter doe has a Chocolate doe, a Chocolate Otter doe, and a Black Doe:). Very excited about these.. especially this one:

Enjoy the beautiful fall weather!

Lots of updates....

I have been meaning to update the Blog for a while..... We have had lots of changes since last post. Here are some of the big ones:
1) We "sold out" of Shaded Holland Lops. We have sold most and have decided to focus on Blues, Blue Torts, torts and a few otters. We also have "Kissie" our Choc. Otter doe that we hope to breed type into.
We have decided that we will most likely keep Macy's Sable Point as a small "side project" and breed on a very small scale.

2) is not so big. We sold out of Fuzzy Lops. They were taking a lot of time and we really need to focus on HL's for now.

We have lots of babies right now :). I think like 24 kits under 8 weeks old. And lots of JR's as well. And I counted all the bunnies in the barn on Sunday..... *76* is our total number. Of course that counts each and every one but still....

We drove up to TN in April and got Sable Point Netherland Dwarf's :). I am really excited about developing some. I think I'll breed Amy my JR SS doe into it as she has Sable Points in the back ground and has nice type. I've bred Splash to the buck already. Can't wait for that litter!  I think she carries the gene, two of her sisters were Torts.

Columbia was this past Saturday. For us it was a looong day. For the Youth breeds there was quite a few breeds and in show A, ND's were last. Holland Lops were towards the beginning. Our results:
Show A Holland Lops: We only had two that we took to show this time. We took Boaz and Darla. Boaz, took Best Solid Junior buck. There were four. We thought that was good as he is only three months old. Darla took like 2nd I think.

Show A Netherland Dwarf's: Competition wasn't very good at all. However we still did well. Silver took Best of Breed and Nathan took Best Opp. Sex of Breed. :) The judge gave Isa BOSG in Shadeds (there was enough bunnies but not people). And Kya was the only AOV so she got BOG lol.

And then HL's in show B were first and and ND's second.
Holland Lops: Boaz took like 2nd this time. I think Darla did too.
Netherland Dwarf's:  Nathan got BOG and Amy got BOSG. Kya again got BOG :). And then.. Nathan won BOB. So we had to stay until the end. But it was worth it because he won BIS!! :) He now has four legs and two BIS's. :)

We are planning on going to the Netherland Dwarf Rendezvous on June 9th. Looking forward to that. It

Well, I think that about sums it up. Rose, Mask, Daphne, and Susan are due this weekend. :) Rose and Mask to Rocket, Daphne and Susan to Frank.

~ April is here and Spring has begun ~

I haven't blogged in a while. I think I'll start with the Conyers show. Remember I got Rose and Liberty? Well about two days before the show, I got Rose's son Liberty's Brother. He is a Siamese Sable and had won BOG in Spartanburg. So I entered this little buck in the show and in show A he won BOB in the Youth show. He then went on to win BIS!!! Irene won BOB.

All the babies are doing great! Splash had babies on the 28th. Looks like a Broken Choc. and a Broken Black with not much pattern. Peanut Butter's baby, is a Blue Otter doe! We are keeping her. Here are some pics.

New Chocolate Otter Holland Lop doe. We are excited to work with this color!

Picked up this Siamese Smoke Pearl buck at Conyers.

Chanelle's Chocolate doe.

Tort Holland Lop buck out of Willow. Keeping

Peanut Butter's Blue Otter doe. Keeping

They took pictures for the show A at Conyers. Here are some pics.

V holding up the pic of Irene after she won BOB.

S Holding up the pic after winning BOB.

And here is the pic they took with S, Nathan, and the judge, Josh Humphries after BIS. Thank You, Josh!!

Did I mention I think Myrtle has 3 BUCKS? How disapointing.... Though I'm not certain. We're going to evaluate them.

~ 3/16/12 ~

We have babies! Rose had 5 babies Saturday which two of were peanuts. That was quite a suprise as I thought she was a BUD. Oh well, I guess not. She has two Siamese Sables and a Himmie. Mask had four babies Monday which two were dead and one was a peanut so she has one himmie left. I gave her Peanut Butter's baby and placed Peanut Butter.

J2 also had one peanut and another stuck kit. She is now On Hold. She's a really nice doe but I'm keeping some does out of my litters and so I decided to sell her. She's also really tiny.

CE3 had a litter of four that didn't live long after birth. Three may have been peanuts. Not certain though. One was a Max Factor...... My first. And it was alive at first but died shortly after birth.

Myrtle had 9 babies Wednesday night!!! Even though three were dead, and two peanuts (Maybe three??) we are extremly excited about it as JAG is the sire! And I was suprised Myrtle was able to carry so many as she is really small!

The weather is warming up! It was around 85 yesterday until the rain hit and it cooled down a bit for the evening. And then it rained last night. Today is suppose to be 80 and a chance of rain this afternoon.

~ Facebook ~

I just started a Facebook page for our Rabbitry. Click here to come "Like" us!

We also have another litter. Peanut Butter had three babies but only one lived :(. The one that lived is a Blue Otter so thats exciting! She is in a climate controled area and is taking great care of the baby so I think it will be fine! We have four does coming due soon. Mask, Rose, J2, and CE3. We are hoping for some nice babies out of these Does!

Its suppose to be nice the next couple of days! Sunny and in the sixty's.

~ 3-6-12 ~

Everyone at the rabbitry right now are doing great! Here is an update on litters.

Jenelle "aka Jenny" has two Black bucks and a Black Otter doe. We are keeping the Black Otter doe and one of the Black bucks. The other black buck is available.

Emma has a Siamese Sable doe and two Himmie does. I am keeping the Siamese Sable doe. The Himmies are available. One is a BUD and the other is tiny.

Our Holland litter we are keeping for now. One of the Broken torts and the tort are does. The other broken is a buck.

Vixen's babies are too little to tell if their boys or girls but some have very cute heads :). Liberty and Chanelle's babies are great. One of Liberty's "himmies" is a Siamese Sable now.... Chanelle's blue passed away. I'm not sure what happened. I think it got away from the other babies and then got cold :(.

We also listed Edward and Emma to the For Sale page. You can see pictures of all the For Sale bunnies on my website. E-mail me if interested in any!

Thanks for reading!

~ Litters! ~

Well... we've had litters, good and bad. I'll start with the good litters.

Jacob X Liberty - 3/4/12 ~ 6 kits: Wow! I was surprised that with her being a first time mom to have six healthy kits. She has six himmies which was a shock since she was bred to Jacob our siamese sable buck and she is out of him.

Butterball X Chanelle - 3/4/12 ~ 4 Kits: She has a Broken Black and three Chocolates?? I'm really excited about this litter!

The bad litters.

Daphne and Tracy were both first time moms and had DOA's I think. They were all otter/martens :(. At least I know Frank is still producing :).

Mya had one kit that was stuck. We are going to try again. She is really small.

Irene still hasn't had babies. We can't tell if she's bred or not....
Well, I've got to go....

~ Another Litter ~

We have another litter. Vixen kindled three Siamese Sables on the 15th. We are excited to have a litter out of her though I hoped for Siamese Smoke Pearls out of her. Maybe next time though. Now that we have Rocket (Blue Himi) we will breed her to him next time and he has a few Smokes in his background and since he's blue hopefully get Smokes! I also bred Dancer who is a Smoke Pearl Marten to him and she is due the 4th so it will be interesting to see what we get. :)

We have lots of does due the begining of March! Irene asked for her nest early and made a beautiful nest!! We are so excited as she is bred to JAG (Blue Otter)!!!

All of the babies are doing great! They are at the cute age. I might try to get updated pics in the next couple of days. I have pictures on the nestbox page but I took them a week ago and they have done so much growing!

~ My Goals and Focus ~

I have been thinking alot lately about what my goals really are. In my Netherland Dwarf's, I want to focus on: Himi's and Shaded's, Self's, Otter's and Marten's and Brokens. Himi's and Shaded's go together. Otter's and Martens go together and can be bred to self's and Broken's.

So.. I have been thinking about the BEW program. BEW's can't be bred to much and I feel like that if I want to focus on nice showable quality Dwarf's in the colors I like, BEW's have to go for now. I love the BEW's and will miss my doe Clara. She is really sweet. But in order to focus...

And with the Holland's. We have recently added a Blue Otter buck. We have Does that carry Blue and we are hoping to add a few Self's to the Herd. So our Holland goal is to raise Shaded's and Self's.

So with all of that being said. We have alot going on and BEW's will take alot of time and space. So Clara is available. She did well on the show tables when we showed her. She is a very small doe. And like I said above, extremely sweet!

In other Rabbitry news: All the babies are doing great! I took Myrtle's little Broken Tort doe and took a picture of her. You can see that on my Home page now. She is really cute right now.

~ Litters ~

We have three new litters in the nestbox! I have been so busy I haven't had time to update or write about them.

Willow our Broken Blue tort HL Doe has three kits that were born 2/3/12. She has a Tort and two Broken Torts. The Sire is Brownie.

Emma our Blue Himi ND Doe has three kits that were born 2/5/12. She has two Himi's and a Siamese Sable. The Sire is Jacob.

Jenelle our Blue Otter ND Doe has three kits that were born 2/5/12. She has a Black Otter and two Blacks.

So with the new litters and the older ones we have 13 kits all together. I am excited to see how Willows turn out!

Himi and Hershey (my black and chocolate bucks) went to a new Rabbitry. I have a replacement buck for Himi (his picture is now posted on the Bucks page) and we will try to raise a chocolate herd buck. Hershey was a nice buck and has alot of good points but I'd like to see just a little better for my next herd buck.

J2 and Clara both had stuck kits. :( We are going to give Clara a little break before we breed her. She pulled a TON of fur and is bald in places.....

In my last post I wrote that Kya won two legs. I got her out and took an updated photo. Here that picture.

She is such a nice doe! About a month ago when she was in lanky stage I didn't have that high of an opinion. I'm glad I held onto her. I knew she was nice when she was in lanky stage but her ears just finally caught up.

Its been real cold the last couple of days. It was like 70 on Sunday and now its like in the 40's.

~ Triple Crown bunny show in Spartanburg, SC 2012 ~

The Triple Crown show in Spartanburg was this past Saturday. We didn't have very much to show in the Holland Lops and with our ND's we didn't get much in show A but in show B my Black Himi doe, Kya, got Best of Group and Best Junior of Group in the open show. And then in show C she got Best Opposite Sex of Group as well as Best Junior of Group in the open show. She is my first homebred bunny to win a leg!!! And she won two!

We have several does due over the next few days and if any of them kindle, I write a new post. I don't remember all of what we got at the show so when our results come in the mail I will post them. We picked up some new bunnies and I will try to post them tomorrow.

~ 1/25/12 ~

All of the litters here at Son Rose Rabbitry are doing well. One of Chanelle's torts are blue. Myrtle's babies are all well too.

The Spartanburg show is this Saturday and we are excited! We have added a few new rabbits to pick up since my last post.......

Like I said before we are getting a Broken Chocolate ND, a Sable Point HL, a Broken Siamese Sable HL, and a Fuzzy Lop. In addition to that we are getting: A Black ND buck from Spring Creek Gems, a Blue Otter ND buck, and a Blue Otter HL Buck. We are excited!

Our show results for Columbia came in the mail yesterday. Jacob got BOB twice and Irene once and then a few first and second places.

Our Black ND buck himi is available. I decided I needed a better black in the program because he has Himi and Tort in his background and I really need a better Black self buck to breed to some of my Otters. So we are getting a black buck.....

I'll try to post at least one more time before the show. We can also bring any of the rabbits for sale to the Spartanburg show so if you are coming and are interested in something available, feel free to send us an email!

1-17-12

Well, Everything is going good here. It turns out that Chanelle has two torts. Not as exciting as I was hoping for but at least its a litter. They are really cute though. They will probably be available. I know these are torts. Starburst's litter was not this and they look alot like what the HL's would look like.

Myrtle had three peanuts. UGH! I thought that they might have been but I had not messed with them that much but went in the third day to see what was what and found three peanuts. I do have a Broken with good pattern and one that I'm not sure about. Question for all you HL breeders: Does a HL with a pattern that would not be considered a charlie in ND's not be a Charlie in HL's? Here is a couple of pics of that kit.

In the picture above, you can see the stripe down the back with lots of dots. You can't see the dots very well but they are there.

In this picture, you can see it has a full butterfly, eye marks and has a few dots on its head. I know in the ND's this would be showable but I'm not sure about in HL's.

The Spartanburg show is coming up and we are all excited! We are taking seven and picking up four. We are getting a HL Sable Point Jr Doe from www.hollandlopsatnarrowgatefarm.com (Narrow Gate Farm), A HL Broken Siamese Sable SR Doe from Sherri Green, A ND Broken Chocolate Jr doe from Seven Dwarf's Rabbitry http://sevendwarfsrabbitry.weebly.com/index.html

and a Broken Black Fuzzy Lop JR Buck from Lile's Lops Rabbitry. http://www.lileslops.com/

Yes, we have decided to do a few Fuzzy Lops! We will be trying to get a few does over the next few months. We are getting this buck and will get does and see how it goes. My sister really likes them and so she is going to try to raise a few and even show.

Well, I have decided to sell my two Orange does. Well really one is a Broken. With us getting Fuzzy Lops and adding HL's we need the room and Oranges take up way to much space because you can't breed them to much. And I have Clara who just bred and the BEW' s will take alot room as well. It would be to much to try to do both Oranges and BEWs. Both does are bred and won't be ready until their litters are weaned which will be in March sometime but I can hold them.

2012

I hope everyone enjoyed their new year! The new year has brought ALOT of successful breedings! Yay! I also had two new litters!! Here is what we have:

Green's Mason - Broken Sable Point HL Buck X NGF Myrtle - Broken Tort HL Doe ~ 3 Legs ~ 5 Kits: Myrtle isn't a Sable Point carrier so this whole litter is Broken Torts but we are hoping we can take any daughters and breed them back to the father. Some are Charlies like their dad and some are like Myrtle.

Son Rose Himi - Black ND Buck X Peachtree's Chanelle - Blue ND Doe ~ 2 Kits:
This is Chanelle's first live litter and she is doing great! I think there is two blue otters?? I'm not really sure. They might even be Lilacs!? I guess time will tell.

Mask's litter is doing good. The himi is a doe and one of the siamese Sables is a buck and the other is a doe.

We bred LOTS of does. Here is a list.

Dec 31st, 2011:
Jacob X Starburst
Jacob X Musical
Jacob X Broken Lace

Jan 1st, 2012
Himi X Tracy

Jan 5th, 2012
Himi X Peanut Butter

Jacob X Emma

Jan 6th, 2012
Himi X Mocha "CE3"
Jacob X Clara
Red Oak X J2

Jan 7th, 2012
Jacob X Rose
Jacob X Dancer

We also picked up two new bunnies yesterday. They are both Himi's. The first one is......

.....Smith's Rose - SR Black Himi doe: Rose is a sweet little doe and has very nice type. She is a BUD but has the roundness in her body that I am excited to get into the lines. Here is a picture of her:

The second doe (Raddison's Liberty) is Rose's daughter. Jacob is her sire. What happened is they brought Rose here and bred her to Jacob and then decided to sell both Rose and Liberty. I am excited about both. Here is a picture of Liberty:
